Storm-Cloud: Thrown into Form is a visually arresting immersive experience in a former steel factory. It has been created in response to the text of Victorian polymath John Ruskin’s 1884 lecture, ‘Storm-Cloud of the Nineteenth Century’. Featuring the text from Ruskin’s lecture alongside found material, and accompanied by digital projection and a unique soundscape that together conjure a striking atmosphere of environmental dis-ease. We are delighted to be offering a guided Guild visit to our beautiful, wildflower-rich meadow at the time of year when it should be looking its very best. We will gather at Sheepscombe from 10.30am, and after our walk to the meadow, and some lunch, heading to the beautiful village of Sapperton, for a guided walk and a visit to Upper Dorval House by Ernest Barnsley. Another themed discussion event presented by the Guild online, in which three Companions take a personal look at a topic through a Ruskinian lens. This event focuses on pollution, and Chris Baines, David Barrie & Michelle Lovric, who between them have a vast range of interests and expertise , will each spend 10 minutes offering their own perspective on an aspect of pollution - human impact on our water and light in particular - that concerns them and about which they invite people to become more aware and perhaps more involved. It will be followed by discussion between them and audience questions. All are welcome. The zoom room will be opened at 5.15pm, ready for a punctual start at 5.30pm. We plan to record the event for our digital web archive. [...]
