The 200th anniversary of John Ruskin’s birth fell on 8th of February 2019. To mark this landmark year, numerous organisations presented Ruskin exhibitions, displays, conferences and activities in the UK, North America and around the world.
The Guild was proud to partner with Museums Sheffield and the Bulldog Trust to present a significant exhibition at Two Temple Place in London John Ruskin – the Power of Seeing, including the largest ever loan of the Ruskin Collection from Sheffield. After showing in London from 26 January to 22 April, a version of the exhibition John Ruskin: Art & Wonder was shown at the Millennium Galleries in Sheffield from 29 May to 15 September 2019.
Working with several cultural and funding partners, there was also an extensive programme of activity presented as part of our Ruskin in Sheffield project throughout the year and further events and an exhibition on Ruskin Land as part of our Ruskin in Wyre project in Worcestershire. The John Ruskin Prize, run by The Big Draw, exhibited in Manchester in the summer, as part of a Ruskin in Manchester festival.
