This is the text of a lecture given by Companion Sarah Woods at a symposium organised by the Guild in April 2019, during the exhibition, John Ruskin: The Power of Seeing, at Two Temple Place in London.
Sarah Woods is a playwright, activist and teacher. Her work has been performed at the Soho Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, the RSC and on BBC TV and radio. She is currently (2019) Associate Professor at the Denmark National School of Performing Arts.
